How to Sell Discord Roles With a Payment Bot

Premium roles work best when the benefit is easy to understand: private channels, member-only events, priority support, exclusive resources, or a visible supporter badge. Create a product with a clear name, description, price, and role mapping so members know exactly what they receive.

With Timber, role products can be sold once or as a recurring subscription. A one-time role is useful for lifetime access or a permanent supporter badge. A recurring role works for memberships where access should follow an active billing relationship.

Run /payments connect to start Stripe Connect Express onboarding. Once the vendor account has completed onboarding, Timber can route checkout payments to the server owner while keeping the platform workflow centralized.

Run /payments publish only after onboarding is complete. Timber generates the server invite URL used by role-product landing pages, so a visitor who is not yet in the community can join before buying access.

Timber uses Stripe webhooks as the source of truth for payment fulfillment. When checkout.session.completed arrives, the buyer’s Discord user ID from checkout metadata can be used to assign the role through Discord’s REST API. This is more reliable than granting access from a browser redirect, because a redirect alone does not prove that payment succeeded.

For recurring roles, invoice payments are recorded and a deleted subscription can trigger role removal. That keeps paid access aligned with the subscription lifecycle instead of leaving former members with permanent access.
